Where form and function meet. B108 is a study of artful objects and high-quality textiles rooted in responsible design and ethical production. As a direct response to a high-speed digital world, B108 is an invitation to relax into embodied art and conscious movement.
Our Heritage: Expanding Beyond the Hoop
Since 2005, our Sydney studio has been dedicated to celebrating the pure joy of spin, dance, and fitness. We began by handcrafting professional-grade hula hoops, supporting our community through local classes, performance arts, and creative workshops.
As our community’s practice grew, so did our vision. We realised that the tools we move with are more than just movement props - they are sculptural objects, architectural silhouettes, and catalysts for deep mindfulness. This realisation inspired us to expand our collections around a dedicated circular design ethos.
After decades of performance and costume design, our founder, B.Star, formalised her vision by completing a Bachelor of Fashion Design in 2026 at Sydney’s renowned Fashion Design Studio. This intersection of performance art and technical fashion design is where B108 was born.
Why 108?
It is a code - a reference to living and spinning on a sacred path. By uniting performance art, a lifelong practice of yoga, and a commitment to sustainable garment design, B108 approaches creation as a living meditation.
Material Integrity and Circularity
Our philosophy is embedded directly into the physical objects we create. Circular design commits to the full lifecycle of a product, and so does B108. By combining natural fibres, deadstock fabrics, and premium recycled materials, we build modern pieces in small-batch production runs that prioritise longevity, circularity, and mindful consumption. By rejecting mass production, we respect both the maker and the environment at every stage of our loop.
Having mastered the engineering of exceptionally durable, high-performance dance hoops crafted from recycled plastic, we advanced along our circular path, driven by the belief that materiality dictates the soul of every object we create.
This is where the journey took a sharp turn towards the earth. Up until this point, the core requirement of our materials was movement. In circus arts, yoga, swimwear, and across the fashion industry since the 1950s, prioritising movement has almost always meant relying on polyester and spandex: synthetics derived entirely from virgin plastic.
While plastic is often criticised for its environmental impact, true sustainability requires recognising its core strengths: durability and longevity. The most responsible way to manage plastic is to keep it permanently within a closed loop of utility - ensuring existing materials are recycled and repurposed rather than reaching a landfill or requiring virgin production.
Beyond plastic lies a revival of natural fibres - a return to tactile authenticity.
In her study of textile design, B.Star fell in love with hand-painting silk and utilising digital tools to transform her artwork into fine prints. On a journey through colour, texture, and pattern, the aim became discovering the essence and poetry within each piece. Every print is born from a hand-painted and illustrated practice.
With this in mind, our first textile collection is an exploration of stories found in fabric. The art of the scarf makes a statement about who we wish to be in the moment. Ultimately, it is a feeling - a tactile experience of natural silk and wool scarves, beautifully hand-painted, dyed, printed, and embellished with original B108 designs.
